Het nieuwe CROSSROADS CAFE is ondertussen al anderhalve maand open en na het openingsconcert van Elmore D., Big Dave & Lazy Horse en enkele try-out jamsessies zijn we eindelijk klaar om er terug stevig in te vliegen met live concerten op zondag, het vertrouwde concept.
ASH GRUNWALD (AUS)
Australian bluesman Ash Grunwald's fifth studio album, HOT MAMA VIBES, is neck-deep in the technological swamp of the 21st Century. It's also the most primal concoction of elemental junkyard soul to stomp through your speakers this year. "Mixing electronica with the blues was always a dream of mine," says Ash, now a 10-year veteran of live stages from Byron Bay Bluesfest to the Montreux Jazz Festival. "On the first album I was really trying to strip it back to raw elements, just be as soulful as possible. I guess every album since then has been a gradual move towards this point."
A roller-coaster year for Eddie Martin has seen him win Blues Act of the Year in the South West Blues Awards as well as repeat nominations for Guitar and Harmonica Player of the Year in the British Blues Awards. His cd has been rave-reviewed internationally ("Superb" fRoots, Masterpiece" Blues in Britain, "Truly blistering guitar player" Guitarist). Charismatic multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, one man band and band leader. Martin is touring internationally in 2012 with his new BIG SOUND TRIO (Jean Paul Gard hammond and bass pedals) and with his 6 -piece band to promote a spring release cd with his Big Band featuring the Little Big Horns (ex Mick Jagger). Guitar-fans, Lovers of Rocking Dance Grooves and fans of BB King Buddy Guy and Big Band Blues will relish this Unique High-Octane Experience on the UK Live Circuit. Fans of Seasick Steve will love the one-man-band show, complete with his Diddley Bo "Frankenstein". Martin honed his solo show touring the US, where he lived for a while, holding down residencies in Beale St Memphis and in the Jook Joints of Clarksdale Mississippi. Playing a full drum-kit with bass-drum suitcase and simultaneous harp and guitar, the one man band show is a visual and listening treat for roots and blues lovers.

The Goon Mat & Lord Bernardo, beiden lid van Cheap Killers en beiden ex-Stinky Lou and the Goon Mat, en Jan Jaspers & Gert Servaes, beiden lid van de niet minder fantastische Voodoo Boogie, hebben elkaar gevonden in deze ongelooflijk groezelige geluidsexplosie. THE HENHOUSE PROWLERS (USA)
Traditional Bluegrass from Chicago. With a focus on traditional vocal harmonies, hard driving instrumentals and sincere lyrics, The Henhouse Prowlers strive to play bluegrass the way it was meant to be played. The Prowlers perform around a single microphone and wear neatly ironed suits. The effect of this setup draws a crowd into an intimate performance that is virtually unmatched in the midwest. While standard bluegrass songs are a significant part of their sets, the original tunes and lyrics are frequently requested by the audience. Songs of reverence for the way things used to be, combined with stories of contemporary frustrations leave a lasting impression on any audience member listening.
